The Road To Spring: Adorable Spring Outfit Idea

I know, I know. It’s technically not Spring yet, but I mean what’s up with this snow (we’re supposed to get a foot of snow in NYC tomorrow)? This is supposed to be the “transitioning to Spring” period…but instead I’m wearing my heaviest jacket and bundling up!

THE LOOK | yellow dress (sold out, similar), suede moto jacket, bow handbag (in floral), penny loafers, sunglasses c/o (identical)

No joke, as I’m writing this, New York City is prepping for a big snowstorm on Tuesday. So that’s cool. Meanwhile, Spring will “officially” be here in 7 days. Dun, dun, dun.

Today’s post is from our second morning in London. After our first shoot at Buckingham Palace, we hopped in a taxi (PS: They are SO cute in London), and headed to a place called Neal’s Yard. As you can tell, it is very colorful and overall just super adorable. We got a quick breakfast and headed back outside to shoot. It was actually pretty cold, but I knew I wanted to shoot this particular Spring outfit idea here.

When it comes to transitioning to Spring, there are a few easy ways to create looks that match the unpredictable weather! This spring outfit idea is just perfect for this!

Don’t put away your Fall/Winter clothes just yet.

Seriously, just don’t do it! Most Spring mornings and nights (at least in New York City) can be quite chilly, and but warm throughout daylight. I own this suede moto jacket in two colors and they were two of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Not only were they really popular for Fall, but they’re also warm. So on those 50 degree mornings, I know I’m going to be reaching one of them more often than not. I also tend to throw on my cashmere wrap as a scarf for an extra layer.

Pair those Fall/Winter pieces with bright colors.

This dress is b-r-i-g-h-t. BRIGHT. And that’s what I love about it. A fun or bright dress is a great spring outfit idea and can easily be worn when it turns from Spring to Summer. I love the contrast of pieces too. This dress and suede moto jacket couldn’t be ANY different from each other, yet they just work together. We should also quickly talk about how Abercrombie & Fitch has been killing it lately. I picked up a lot of things before my trip (check out this cozy sweatshirt worn in this post), and now I keep finding myself back on their website. Their new arrivals are actually pretty awesome – I mean do you want to talk about these embroidered jeans now or later? – and my cart is slowly, but surely filling up.

Shoes. Shoes. Shoes.

As I learn more about my own buying habits, I’m realizing just how important it is to have shoes in your closet that are really versatile. Once again, I picked up these penny loafers right before my trip and they’ve proven to be an amazing addition to my collection. I’ve been so into loafers for a while now (since I picked up these babies), and continue to buy them. I realized I didn’t have a super classic pair, and these are just too perfect. When it comes to transitioning to spring, I know I’ll be wearing them nonstop. They also come in a TON of colors and finishes (patent, leather, pebble leather, etc.), which means there’s 100% a pair for you.

Get accessories that make you excited.

I mean, yeah, why not? Accessories might be my favorite things to shop for. This little sidekick (love the floral version and this similar bow bag) has proven itself to be the cutest accessory for many of my outfits. It also comes with a strap, so that’s a great bonus! During the winter months, I tend to wear very dark sunglasses to match the weather. My Celine cat eyes and my favorite oversized mirrored aviators were definitely my most worn sunglasses the past few months, but now I’m starting to pick up some new ones or older favorites. I love the idea of bright mirrored sunnies (seen in this post) for as a spring outfit idea or even the summer. They’re perfect for the beach or for that delicious rosé al fresco.

So as you can see, a great spring outfit idea doesn’t need to be that hard! If you follow my tips, I know your looks are going to be perfect!
